Background of the Study
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has transformed the global business landscape, enabling Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to improve efficiency, expand market reach, and enhance customer engagement. ICT training equips entrepreneurs with the skills to leverage technology for operational and strategic growth (Aliyu & Hassan, 2023).

In Gombe State, SMEs represent a significant portion of the local economy. However, the adoption of ICT remains low due to inadequate training, limited infrastructure, and high costs of technology acquisition. By providing ICT training to SME owners, businesses can experience improved productivity and competitiveness (Yusuf & Ibrahim, 2024).

Statement of the Problem
Despite the potential of ICT to enhance SME growth, many business owners in Gombe State lack the necessary skills to adopt and utilize technology effectively. Barriers such as limited access to ICT training programs and the high cost of acquiring digital tools have slowed the pace of SME growth. Moreover, there is insufficient research on the specific role of ICT training in driving SME development in the state (Abdullahi & Bello, 2023).

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess the impact of ICT training on the growth of SMEs in Gombe State.

  2. To identify challenges faced by SMEs in accessing ICT training.

  3. To recommend measures for improving ICT adoption through training.

Research Questions

  1. What is the impact of ICT training on the growth of SMEs in Gombe State?

  2. What challenges do SMEs face in accessing ICT training?

  3. What measures can enhance ICT adoption among SMEs in Gombe State?

Research Hypotheses

  1. ICT training does not significantly impact SME growth in Gombe State.

  2. SMEs do not face significant challenges in accessing ICT training.

  3. Proposed measures do not significantly improve ICT adoption among SMEs.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study focuses on SMEs in Gombe State and examines the role of ICT training in their growth. Limitations include disparities in business sizes and variations in ICT infrastructure across the state.
