Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

Human trafficking is a global crisis, with devastating social and economic consequences. In Gombe Local Government, Gombe State, vulnerable populations are targeted by traffickers exploiting weak awareness and socio-economic challenges. Print media, through investigative journalism, feature articles, and campaigns, plays a critical role in raising public awareness about the dangers of human trafficking and promoting preventive measures. By highlighting survivor stories, legal consequences for traffickers, and resources for victims, newspapers serve as a vital tool in combating this menace. This study explores how print media contributes to raising awareness and mobilizing communities against human trafficking in Gombe Local Government.
