ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to examine the  effect of covid 19 on food vendors using selected restaurants in Abuja. Specifically, the study examined  if covid-19 caused low sales to food vendors,  access the implication of food processing under poor environment,  investigate the effect of covid-19 on food vending. The  study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 40 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that covid-19 caused low sales of  food for  vendors, food processing under poor environment affect sales of food, covid-19 affected food vendors tremendously on food vending. The study recommends that drink dispensers  may be a great opportunity for premixed canned drinks industry, that can be dispensed via dispensers. Such drinks are already available in many countries and are a hit with the crowds. Bottled beverages will be preferred over mixed drinks in the post COVID days,  Proper sanitization  should be carried out in restaurants And they will have to invest in proper sanitisation techniques that may be costly, and staff may have to be retrained, Government Laws  dealing in hygiene and sanitisation must become more stringent and some form a new law or code must be brought in. Stringent health check-up or the staff on a weekly basis and cleanliness certification issued, that can be displayed at the entrance should become mandatory so first timers can be assured of some form of security.
