Background of the Study

Ethical journalism, rooted in principles such as accuracy, fairness, and accountability, is crucial for maintaining public trust and upholding democratic values. In Minna Local Government Area, Niger State, journalists play a pivotal role in informing the public and holding authorities accountable. However, the profession faces ethical dilemmas, including conflicts of interest, sensationalism, and pressures from political and economic actors. Studies emphasize that adherence to ethical standards is essential for preserving journalistic integrity and fostering societal progress (Adebayo et al., 2023; Yusuf, 2024). This study explores the ethical responsibilities of journalists in Minna, focusing on the challenges they face and the strategies for upholding ethical practices.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

Despite the critical role of journalists in society, ethical lapses such as biased reporting, misinformation, and conflicts of interest are prevalent in Minna.
