Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Performance appraisals are critical to organizational growth, providing a structured approach to evaluating employee contributions and aligning them with organizational goals. Effective corporate communication plays a vital role in ensuring that performance appraisals are understood, accepted, and utilized as tools for employee development and organizational success. In Gummi Local Government Area, Zamfara State, organizations often face challenges in conducting appraisals due to communication gaps, lack of clarity, and perceived biases. Research underscores the importance of clear, transparent, and consistent communication in enhancing the credibility and effectiveness of performance appraisal systems (Olawale & Usman, 2023).
