Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a significant component of business operations, particularly in developing regions like Nguru Local Government Area, Yobe State. Businesses are increasingly expected to contribute to the social, environmental, and economic well-being of the communities in which they operate. Corporate communication plays a crucial role in promoting CSR initiatives, as it helps businesses communicate their efforts to stakeholders, including local communities, government bodies, and consumers. By effectively communicating their CSR activities, businesses can enhance their reputation, build trust, and foster positive relationships with the community. Recent studies have shown that CSR initiatives, when effectively communicated, can contribute to sustainable community development and enhance the social license to operate (Musa & Aliyu, 2023). This study aims to explore the role of corporate communication in promoting CSR initiatives and its impact on community development in Nguru Local Government Area.
