ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to examine the effects of teachers qualification on students academic performance in senior secondary schools using selected senior secondary schools in Agege Local Government Area, Lagos State as a case study. Specifically, the study was aimed at exploring the relationship between teachers qualifications and students academic performance in senior secondary schools in Lagos State, and examine the effects of teachers’ experience on students’ academic performance in senior secondary. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 120 responses were validated from the survey. The study adopted the motivation theory. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that Teachers’ qualifications have effect on students’ academic performance in senior secondary schools in Lagos State. The findings further revealed that Teacher’s experience is a significant predictor of students academic performance in senior secondary. The study therefore recommend School owners and administrators should always confirm that teachers they employ are highly qualified for the subjects they are being employed to teach so as for them to give their best while teaching the students. Also, school administrators and owners should always carry out teachers’ training in their schools to equip the teachers with the trending methods of teaching.
