Background of the Study
Volunteerism plays a pivotal role in community development by mobilizing resources and fostering collective action. In Langtang North Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, community-driven projects rely heavily on volunteers to address local issues, ranging from health initiatives to infrastructure development. Advertising, through various media channels, has proven to be an effective tool in encouraging individuals to contribute their time and skills to such projects.
Research by Adebayo and Eze (2024) emphasizes that advertising campaigns aimed at promoting volunteerism need to be engaging, relatable, and focused on highlighting the benefits of community involvement. This study explores the effectiveness of advertising in encouraging volunteerism for community projects in Langtang North LGA, analyzing the strategies used, the channels chosen, and the outcomes achieved.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the growing need for volunteers in Langtang North LGA, there remains a noticeable gap in volunteer participation. Many residents are either unaware of the community projects available or are reluctant to volunteer due to misconceptions or lack of motivation.
Salihu and Danjuma (2023) suggest that advertising, when tailored effectively, can overcome these barriers by providing compelling reasons for involvement. However, the extent to which advertising campaigns influence volunteerism in Langtang North LGA remains underexplored, warranting this study.
