1.1 Background of the Study
Lere Local Government Area in Kaduna State is home to various cultural heritage sites, including ancient landmarks, historical monuments, and traditional sites that reflect the rich history of the region. Despite their cultural significance, many of these heritage sites are underappreciated and at risk of being lost due to neglect or lack of awareness. Photography, as a visual storytelling tool, has the potential to highlight these cultural sites, raise awareness, and promote their preservation. This study seeks to explore the impact of photography in promoting and protecting cultural heritage sites in Lere LGA.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Cultural heritage sites in Lere LGA are often overlooked, leading to potential loss of these irreplaceable assets. There is a lack of effective advocacy for their preservation, and many local communities are unaware of the historical significance of these sites. Photography can serve as a tool to document and promote these sites, raising awareness about their importance to both local communities and the wider public. However, the role of photography in cultural heritage preservation has not been fully explored in Lere LGA. This study aims to investigate the impact of photography in promoting these heritage sites.
