1.1 Background of the Study
Local industries form the backbone of many rural communities, providing employment, boosting the economy, and preserving cultural heritage. In Koko-Besse Local Government Area (LGA) of Kebbi State, local industries such as agriculture, handicrafts, and small-scale manufacturing play a crucial role in sustaining the livelihoods of the community. However, these industries often face challenges in terms of visibility, market access, and recognition. Photography, with its ability to capture the essence of local industries and showcase their products and processes, can serve as a powerful tool for promoting these industries. By visually documenting the activities of local industries, photography can attract attention from potential investors, policymakers, and consumers, thus boosting the economic growth of the region. This study explores how photography can be a catalyst for promoting local industries in Koko-Besse LGA, examining its role in enhancing visibility and fostering economic development.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the importance of local industries in Koko-Besse LGA, there is a lack of recognition and promotion of these industries at both the regional and national levels. Many local industries are faced with challenges such as limited access to markets, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient awareness among the broader public. Photography can provide a solution by visually representing these industries, thus increasing their visibility and marketability. However, the potential of photography to promote local industries in Koko-Besse LGA has not been sufficiently explored. This study seeks to investigate how photography can contribute to the promotion of local industries in the region.
