1.1 Background of the Study
Youth unemployment is a critical challenge in Nigeria, contributing to socio-economic instability and youth migration to urban areas in search of better opportunities. In Kaltungo Local Government Area (LGA) of Gombe State, youth employment remains a significant concern, with many young people unable to access jobs or vocational training opportunities. Photography, through the lens of advocacy, can serve as a tool for raising awareness about the importance of youth employment and promoting available opportunities. By documenting the struggles of unemployed youth and showcasing initiatives that support employment, photography can create a visual narrative that resonates with the community and policymakers. This study explores how photography can contribute to the advocacy for youth employment in Kaltungo LGA, assessing its potential in inspiring action and fostering collaboration between local stakeholders and youth.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite efforts to address youth unemployment in Kaltungo LGA, significant gaps remain in terms of employment opportunities, awareness, and advocacy. While some government programs and local initiatives exist, they often lack visibility and engagement. Photography can serve as a powerful advocacy tool, but its role in promoting youth employment in Kaltungo LGA has yet to be thoroughly investigated. This study seeks to explore how photography can contribute to raising awareness, promoting youth employment initiatives, and encouraging both local and external stakeholders to invest in youth development.

1.6 Significance of the Study
This study is significant because it highlights the potential of photography as a tool for social change, particularly in addressing youth unemployment. By visually documenting the challenges and opportunities related to youth employment, photography can serve as a catalyst for broader discussions and actions, fostering greater engagement from both the community and policymakers.
1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study is confined to exploring the role of photography in advocating for youth employment in Kaltungo LGA, Gombe State. It does not extend to other regions or alternative advocacy strategies beyond photography.
