Background of the Study

Financial inclusion is a key factor in reducing poverty and fostering economic growth, particularly in rural areas. Accounting Information Systems (AIS) can facilitate financial inclusion by improving access to financial services and promoting better financial management in rural regions. This study will explore how AIS can enhance financial inclusion in rural Northern Nigeria.

Statement of the Problem

Rural Northern Nigeria faces significant barriers to financial inclusion, including limited access to banking services, lack of financial literacy, and inadequate infrastructure. AIS can play a role in addressing these barriers by providing transparent financial management and accessible financial services.

Aim and Objectives of the Study

Aim: To assess the role of AIS in enhancing financial inclusion in rural Northern Nigeria.
Objectives:

  1. To explore the current state of financial inclusion in rural Northern Nigeria.

  2. To evaluate how AIS can improve financial services access and management.

  3. To identify challenges faced by rural communities in adopting AIS for financial inclusion.

Research Questions

  1. What are the barriers to financial inclusion in rural Northern Nigeria?

  2. How can AIS enhance financial inclusion in rural communities?

  3. What are the challenges in adopting AIS for financial inclusion?

Research Hypothesis

  1. H₀: AIS does not significantly enhance financial inclusion in rural Northern Nigeria.

  2. H₀: There are no significant challenges to AIS adoption in rural Northern Nigeria.

Significance of the Study

The findings will contribute to efforts aimed at increasing financial inclusion in rural communities by demonstrating how AIS can improve access to financial services and promote financial empowerment.

Scope and Limitation of the Study
