Background of the Study
Financial decision-making in local governments is vital for ensuring the efficient use of resources and the successful implementation of developmental projects. In Makurdi Local Government Area (LGA), the management of financial data remains largely manual, which can lead to inefficiencies, delays, and poor decision-making. The implementation of an Accounting Information System (AIS) can significantly improve financial decision-making by providing timely and accurate financial information.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the potential benefits of AIS in improving financial decision-making, Makurdi LGA continues to rely on traditional accounting methods that may hinder efficient financial management. This study aims to assess the role of AIS in supporting better financial decisions within the local government, ensuring the optimal allocation of resources.

Research Hypothesis
H₀: There is no significant relationship between the use of AIS and the improvement of financial decision-making in Makurdi LGA.
H₀: The implementation of AIS does not significantly enhance the financial outcomes in Makurdi LGA.
Significance of the Study
This study will provide insights into how the adoption of AIS can improve financial decision-making in Makurdi LGA, which could lead to better resource allocation, budgeting, and financial planning. The findings could serve as a guide for other LGAs looking to enhance their financial management practices.
Scope and Limitation of the Study
The study will focus on the financial decision-making processes in Makurdi LGA and how AIS has impacted these processes. Limitations may include access to detailed financial records and data related to decision-making outcomes.
