Background of the Study
Social media has revolutionized advocacy, providing a platform for individuals and organizations to raise awareness and drive change. Photography plays a pivotal role in this digital advocacy, as compelling visuals have the power to attract attention, evoke emotions, and inspire action. In Funtua Local Government Area, Katsina State, photography has been increasingly used to highlight social issues, from youth unemployment to environmental challenges. According to Bello and Usman (2024), photographs shared on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram have significantly amplified the reach and impact of advocacy campaigns in Funtua. However, the extent of photography's influence on social media advocacy in the area remains underexplored. This study investigates how photography enhances social media advocacy in Funtua.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
While social media advocacy is gaining traction in Funtua, the strategic use of photography to maximize its impact is not fully understood. Many campaigns lack visually engaging content, which limits their ability to capture public attention and drive meaningful engagement. Furthermore, there is limited research on the role of photography in social media advocacy, particularly in the context of Funtua. This gap in knowledge hinders the development of effective advocacy strategies (Aminu & Hassan, 2023). This study seeks to bridge this gap by examining the influence of photography on social media advocacy in Funtua.

The study focuses on the influence of photography on social media advocacy in Funtua Local Government Area, Katsina State. It excludes other forms of advocacy and is limited to social media platforms and campaigns in Funtua.
