Background of the Study
Local markets are vital for economic development, serving as hubs for trade, employment, and community interaction. In Sabon Gari Local Government Area (LGA), Kano State, local markets face challenges such as low patronage, competition from larger markets, and limited awareness of their offerings. Public relations (PR) plays a crucial role in promoting local markets by creating awareness, enhancing their image, and attracting customers. Research by Abdullahi and Suleiman (2023) highlights the effectiveness of PR strategies such as advertising, community engagement, and social media campaigns in boosting market patronage. This study explores the role of PR in promoting local markets in Sabon Gari LGA.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the economic significance of local markets in Sabon Gari LGA, they face challenges such as low visibility, inadequate promotion, and competition. PR has the potential to address these issues, but its role in promoting local markets in the area remains underexplored. This study investigates how PR strategies can enhance the visibility and patronage of local markets in Sabon Gari LGA.
