Background of the Study
Urbanization, characterized by population growth and expansion of cities, presents both opportunities and challenges. Public relations (PR) plays a vital role in addressing urbanization challenges by facilitating communication, promoting sustainable practices, and engaging stakeholders. Lokoja Local Government Area (LGA), Kogi State, is experiencing rapid urbanization, leading to issues such as housing shortages, traffic congestion, and environmental degradation. Research by Adeyemi and Usman (2023) emphasizes the importance of PR strategies, including community engagement, public awareness campaigns, and stakeholder collaboration, in addressing these challenges. This study explores PR strategies for managing urbanization challenges in Lokoja LGA.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite efforts to manage urbanization in Lokoja LGA, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, waste management issues, and social inequality persist. These problems affect the quality of life for residents and hinder sustainable development. This study examines how PR strategies can address these challenges, focusing on their effectiveness and limitations.

This study provides valuable insights for PR practitioners, urban planners, and policymakers on leveraging PR to address urbanization challenges. By identifying effective strategies and addressing challenges, it contributes to sustainable urban development in Lokoja LGA.

1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study focuses on PR strategies for managing urbanization challenges within Lokoja LGA, Kogi State, examining their effectiveness and limitations.
