Background of the Study
The advocacy for girl-child education has become a global priority due to its significant impact on societal development. Public relations (PR) plays a crucial role in promoting awareness, mobilizing resources, and influencing public attitudes toward girl-child education. In Chibok Local Government Area (LGA), Borno State, the challenges surrounding girl-child education are exacerbated by cultural, economic, and security factors. According to Ibrahim and Musa (2024), effective PR strategies such as media campaigns, community engagement, and stakeholder collaboration can foster positive change by addressing misconceptions and promoting the importance of educating girls. This study examines the effectiveness of PR in advocating for girl-child education in Chibok LGA, highlighting its strategies, challenges, and impact.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite numerous initiatives to promote girl-child education in Chibok LGA, significant barriers such as cultural norms, poverty, and insecurity persist. These challenges hinder enrollment, retention, and completion rates for girls in school. This study explores how PR can address these issues, evaluating its effectiveness in advocacy for girl-child education in Chibok LGA.

1.3 Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess the role of public relations in advocating for girl-child education in Chibok LGA.

  2. To identify challenges faced by PR practitioners in promoting girl-child education.

  3. To propose strategies for enhancing PR advocacy for girl-child education.

1.4 Research Questions

  1. How does public relations contribute to advocacy for girl-child education in Chibok LGA?

1.5 Research Hypotheses

  1. Public relations significantly enhances advocacy for girl-child education in Chibok LGA.

  2. Challenges such as cultural norms and insecurity hinder PR efforts in advocating for girl-child education.

  3. Improved PR strategies can increase awareness and support for girl-child education in Chibok LGA.

1.6 Significance of the Study
This study provides insights for PR practitioners, educators, policymakers, and NGOs on leveraging PR to promote girl-child education. By identifying effective strategies and addressing challenges, it contributes to the advancement of education for girls in Chibok LGA and similar contexts.

1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study focuses on the role of PR in advocating for girl-child education within Chibok LGA, Borno State, examining its strategies, challenges, and outcomes.
