Background of the Study
Gender-based violence (GBV) is a pervasive issue that undermines the safety, dignity, and rights of individuals, particularly women and girls. Local media has emerged as a critical tool for raising awareness and fostering public discourse on GBV, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas like Kafanchan Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna State. By disseminating information, advocating for survivors, and highlighting preventive measures, local media plays a pivotal role in addressing GBV. A recent study by Adekunle and Ibrahim (2023) underscores the impact of community media in sensitizing populations to the realities of GBV and encouraging collective action. 1.2 Statement of the Problem
