Background of the Study
Election-related violence is a recurrent issue in Nigeria's political landscape, often undermining democratic processes and social stability. In Chikun Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna State, such violence has been a significant concern, affecting voter turnout, electoral integrity, and community cohesion. Media coverage plays a pivotal role in documenting these events, raising awareness, and holding stakeholders accountable. However, journalists face numerous challenges, including threats to personal safety, limited access to conflict zones, and political interference. According to Okafor and Abdullahi (2023), the media's role in covering election-related violence is critical for fostering transparency and encouraging peaceful resolutions.
