Background of the Study

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a significant role in local economies, including in Bassa Local Government Area. Revenue collection from these businesses is essential for generating funds for local development and public services. However, SMEs often face challenges in efficiently managing and tracking their revenue. The implementation of an Accounting Information System (AIS) can help improve revenue collection by providing accurate data, automating processes, and ensuring compliance. This study will explore how AIS can enhance revenue collection for SMEs in Bassa LGA.

  2. How does the implementation of AIS impact revenue collection in SMEs?

  3. What challenges hinder the adoption of AIS in SMEs in Bassa, and how can these challenges be addressed?

Research Hypothesis

  1. H₀: The implementation of AIS does not significantly enhance revenue collection for SMEs in Bassa Local Government Area.

  2. H₀: The adoption of AIS does not significantly improve financial transparency in revenue collection by SMEs in Bassa.

Significance of the Study

This study will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of AIS in improving revenue collection within the SME sector in Bassa LGA. It will also identify challenges to the adoption of AIS and offer recommendations for local government and SME owners to enhance revenue management.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

The study will focus on SMEs in Bassa LGA and their use of AIS for revenue collection. Limitations may include the reluctance of SME owners to adopt new technology or the challenge of collecting detailed financial data due to privacy concerns.
