Background of the Study

Cultural identity is an essential aspect of any community's heritage, and in regions like Nguru LGA in Yobe State, preserving local traditions, languages, and customs is crucial in the face of globalization and modernization. Local radio stations play a vital role in promoting cultural preservation by broadcasting programs that highlight traditional music, folk tales, cultural festivals, and interviews with elders who impart wisdom. In Nguru LGA, radio stations are central to the dissemination of cultural knowledge, serving as platforms for the community to connect with its cultural roots (Yusuf & Garba, 2024). This study examines the role of local radio stations in preserving cultural identity in Nguru LGA.
