Background of the Study

The rise of digital media has transformed the way information is disseminated, particularly in relation to public opinion. In Minna LGA, Niger State, digital journalism has emerged as a powerful tool for shaping public perceptions on a variety of issues, ranging from politics to health, education, and governance. With the increasing penetration of smartphones and internet access, digital platforms such as social media, blogs, and online news outlets have become prominent sources of news for local communities (Ibrahim & Lawal, 2023). The speed and accessibility of digital media allow for immediate interaction and engagement, influencing how the public forms opinions on social and political matters. This study seeks to examine how digital journalism in Minna LGA impacts public opinion, considering factors such as information credibility, social media engagement, and the role of online platforms in shaping public discourse.
