Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Event photography has become a cornerstone in promoting social gatherings by capturing and sharing memorable moments that foster engagement and participation. In Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, event photography plays a vital role in documenting occasions such as weddings, cultural festivals, and corporate events. These photographs serve as marketing tools, encouraging attendance at future events and enhancing the visibility of social gatherings. According to Yusuf and Ahmed (2024), the visual appeal of high-quality event photographs significantly influences audience perception and engagement. Despite its potential, the role of event photography in promoting social gatherings in Jos North has not been extensively studied, particularly in terms of its impact on event branding and community participation. This study examines the role of event photography in promoting social gatherings, focusing on its contributions, challenges, and strategies for optimization.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
While event photography is widely used to document social gatherings, its strategic role in promoting such events is often overlooked in Jos North Local Government Area. Challenges such as inadequate access to professional photographers, lack of awareness about the marketing potential of event photography, and limited integration with digital platforms hinder its effectiveness. Although studies have explored the role of visual media in event promotion, there is limited research focusing specifically on event photography in Jos North (Bello & Musa, 2023). This study addresses this gap by evaluating the contributions and challenges of event photography in promoting social gatherings.

1.6 Significance of the Study
