Background of the Study
Social welfare programs are essential for improving the well-being of vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, disabled, and low-income families. In Nigeria, local governments like Bassa LGA play a significant role in implementing these programs. Taxation provides the necessary revenue to fund social welfare initiatives, yet the effectiveness of these programs often depends on how well the local government utilizes tax revenues.
In Bassa LGA, like many other local governments, challenges such as inadequate tax collection, misallocation of funds, and inefficiency in administration have hindered the success of social welfare programs. This study explores how taxation affects the delivery of social welfare programs in Bassa LGA, examining both the positive impacts and the challenges faced by the local government in leveraging tax revenues for social welfare.
Statement of the Problem
