1.1 Background of the Study
Religious pilgrimage events are deeply rooted in spiritual traditions and are significant for fostering communal worship, spiritual growth, and cultural exchange. Sokoto North Local Government Area, being a hub of Islamic heritage in Nigeria, frequently hosts pilgrimage-related events that attract both local and international participants. These events, such as Maulud celebrations and preparatory gatherings for Hajj, require meticulous planning and coordination. According to Yusuf and Bala (2024), organizing such events involves logistical complexities, including transportation, accommodation, crowd management, and security. Despite their importance, these events face challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, funding constraints, and political interference, which can hinder their success. This study examines the challenges of organizing religious pilgrimage events in Sokoto North LGA, providing insights into potential solutions for improving their management.
