Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Transparency in local governance is fundamental to fostering trust, accountability, and effective service delivery. In Keffi LGA, Nasarawa State, the absence of open communication and citizen engagement has often hindered governance processes. Public Relations (PR) strategies can address these gaps by promoting transparency through stakeholder dialogue, media engagement, and information dissemination. These initiatives ensure that local governments remain accountable and responsive to the needs of their constituents.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
The lack of transparency in local governance in Keffi LGA has led to public distrust and limited citizen participation in decision-making processes. This study explores how PR strategies can enhance transparency and improve public trust in governance.

The study highlights the potential of PR in transforming local governance, offering insights for policymakers, communication experts, and advocacy groups on fostering transparency and accountability.

1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study is confined to PR strategies aimed at promoting transparency in Keffi LGA, Nasarawa State.
