Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Local content development is a strategic approach to fostering economic growth and self-reliance by prioritizing the utilization of local resources, skills, and expertise in various sectors. In Kano Municipal Local Government Area (LGA), Kano State, promoting local content is crucial for enhancing economic activities and reducing dependency on external inputs. Public relations (PR) plays a significant role in this effort by creating awareness, mobilizing support, and influencing policies that prioritize local content development. According to Yusuf and Ibrahim (2024), effective PR campaigns can highlight the benefits of local content, encourage stakeholder engagement, and foster partnerships between local producers and consumers. This study examines how PR strategies are employed to promote local content development in Kano Municipal LGA.
