1.1 Background of the Study
Cooperative societies play a pivotal role in fostering economic empowerment, especially in rural areas like Jalingo Local Government Area (LGA), Taraba State. These societies provide members with access to resources, financial services, and collective bargaining power. Public relations (PR) is essential in advancing cooperative societies by promoting their benefits, enhancing member participation, and fostering community trust. According to Danjuma and Ahmed (2023), PR strategies such as stakeholder engagement, media campaigns, and community outreach significantly impact the growth and sustainability of cooperative societies. This study explores the role of PR in advancing cooperative societies in rural areas, with a focus on Jalingo LGA.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the potential benefits of cooperative societies, many in Jalingo LGA face challenges such as low membership, limited public awareness, and organizational inefficiencies. While PR strategies can address these issues, their role in advancing cooperative societies in the region remains underexplored.
