Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
The promotion of women's health rights is fundamental to achieving gender equity and improved public health outcomes. In Kafin Hausa LGA, Jigawa State, cultural, economic, and educational barriers continue to impede women's access to health services and information. Public Relations (PR) strategies can play a transformative role by advocating for women's health rights, raising awareness, and engaging key stakeholders to drive policy changes. Through targeted campaigns and community engagement, PR can empower women and ensure their health rights are prioritized within local governance frameworks.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Women in Kafin Hausa LGA face numerous challenges, including inadequate access to healthcare, limited awareness of health rights, and socio-cultural restrictions. Despite efforts by government and NGOs, there is a communication gap in effectively advocating for women’s health rights. This study examines how PR can bridge this gap and drive impactful advocacy.

1.3 Objectives of the Study

  1. To evaluate the role of PR in advocating for women's health rights in Kafin Hausa LGA.
  2. To identify effective PR strategies for raising awareness of women’s health rights.
  3. To examine barriers to implementing PR campaigns on women's health advocacy.

1.4 Research Questions

  1. How does PR contribute to advocating for women’s health rights in Kafin Hausa LGA?
  2. What PR strategies effectively raise awareness about women’s health rights?
  3. What challenges affect the implementation of PR-driven advocacy campaigns?

1.5 Research Hypotheses

  1. H0: PR strategies do not significantly impact women’s health advocacy.
  2. H1: Awareness campaigns through PR promote greater understanding of health rights.
  3. H2: Addressing implementation barriers enhances the effectiveness of advocacy campaigns.

1.6 Significance of the Study
The study provides a framework for leveraging PR to promote women's health rights, benefiting policymakers, advocacy groups, and local communities.

1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study focuses on PR strategies for women’s health advocacy in Kafin Hausa LGA, Jigawa State.
