Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Public trust is a cornerstone of governance, influencing citizen compliance, policy support, and societal harmony. In Maiduguri LGA, Borno State, years of insecurity and administrative challenges have eroded trust in government institutions. Public Relations (PR) serves as a vital tool for restoring this trust by fostering transparent communication, promoting government initiatives, and engaging citizens in decision-making processes. Through strategic campaigns, PR can rebuild confidence, strengthen the government-citizen relationship, and enhance institutional credibility in Maiduguri.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
The decline in public trust in government institutions in Maiduguri LGA has hindered effective policy implementation and community cooperation. Despite efforts to improve governance, a communication gap persists, exacerbating mistrust.
