1.1 Background of the Study
Transparency in local government administration is critical for fostering public trust and ensuring accountability. In Damaturu Local Government Area (LGA), Yobe State, issues such as corruption, poor communication, and lack of public involvement have affected governance transparency. Public relations (PR) can bridge the gap between local governments and citizens by promoting open communication, facilitating public engagement, and addressing concerns about governance practices. According to Usman and Ibrahim (2023), PR strategies such as stakeholder engagement and transparent reporting can enhance local government transparency. This study investigates the role of PR in managing transparency in Damaturu LGA.

Despite efforts to improve transparency, local government administration in Damaturu LGA continues to face challenges such as limited public trust and inadequate communication. The role of PR in addressing these issues and enhancing transparency remains underexplored.
