1.1 Background of the Study
Border areas serve as critical hubs for trade and economic interactions between nations. In Jibia Local Government Area (LGA), Katsina State, which shares a border with Niger Republic, trade relations play a vital role in the local economy. However, challenges such as smuggling, border disputes, and inadequate communication have affected trade dynamics. Public relations (PR) can enhance trade relations by fostering dialogue, promoting cross-border cooperation, and addressing trade-related issues. Studies by Abdullahi and Yusuf (2023) highlight the importance of PR in facilitating trade relations and resolving conflicts. This study examines the role of PR in enhancing trade relations in Jibia LGA.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the economic significance of Jibia LGA as a border area, challenges such as poor communication, mistrust, and regulatory issues have hindered trade relations. PR strategies have the potential to address these challenges, but their application in enhancing trade relations remains underexplored. This study investigates how PR can improve trade relations in Jibia LGA.
