Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Revenue generation is the backbone of local government operations, enabling the provision of essential services such as infrastructure, healthcare, and education. In Yola South Local Government Area (LGA), Adamawa State, challenges in revenue collection and management have hindered the efficient delivery of these services. Public relations (PR) plays a pivotal role in enhancing revenue generation by fostering transparency, building trust with stakeholders, and encouraging public compliance with tax obligations. Recent studies by Abdullahi and Musa (2024) highlight the importance of strategic communication in improving revenue collection in local governments. This study explores the role of PR in enhancing revenue generation in Yola South LGA, focusing on strategies and outcomes.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite various efforts to improve revenue generation in Yola South LGA, issues such as low tax compliance, lack of awareness, and mistrust in local government authorities persist. Public relations has the potential to address these challenges by promoting transparency and engaging stakeholders, but its role in this context remains underexplored. This study investigates how PR strategies can enhance revenue generation in Yola South LGA.

1.3 Objectives of the Study

1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
