Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Freelance journalism plays a vital role in reporting from conflict zones, often filling gaps left by mainstream media. In Bama LGA, a region plagued by insurgency and insecurity, freelance journalists provide critical insights and firsthand accounts of ongoing crises. However, the nature of freelance work exposes journalists to heightened risks, including physical danger, limited resources, and a lack of institutional support.
