Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
News documentaries have emerged as a compelling medium for preserving and promoting cultural and historical heritage. In Jos South LGA, Plateau State, rich in history and cultural diversity, news documentaries highlight significant events, landmarks, and traditions, fostering a sense of identity and continuity. By combining visual storytelling with factual reporting, documentaries engage audiences and inspire efforts to preserve historical artifacts, sites, and practices (Audu & Danjuma, 2023).
