Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Effective waste management is critical for environmental sustainability and public health. However, in Wukari LGA, Taraba State, improper waste disposal remains a significant challenge, leading to pollution, health risks, and aesthetic degradation. Public Relations (PR) can play a pivotal role in educating the public about proper waste management practices.

PR strategies, such as awareness campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and media advocacy, can effectively inform and influence community attitudes toward waste management. Studies have shown that PR initiatives can encourage sustainable practices and community involvement in waste reduction efforts (Eze & Danjuma, 2023). This study investigates how PR can enhance public education on waste management in Wukari LGA.
