Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Political campaigns are pivotal moments in democratic societies, requiring strategic communication to engage voters, shape perceptions, and build trust. Public Relations (PR) plays an integral role in crafting messages, managing reputations, and fostering relationships between candidates and constituents. In Gwagwalada LGA, FCT Abuja, PR strategies are increasingly employed to enhance voter outreach and influence electoral outcomes.
Effective PR in political campaigns involves the use of media relations, event management, and targeted messaging to resonate with diverse audiences. Digital platforms have also become essential in amplifying campaign messages and engaging younger demographics. However, the success of PR strategies depends on their authenticity, cultural relevance, and ability to address voter concerns. This study explores the effectiveness of PR strategies in political campaigns in Gwagwalada LGA, assessing their impact and challenges.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the growing reliance on PR in political campaigns, issues such as misinformation, limited engagement, and negative campaigning often undermine its effectiveness.
