Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Malnutrition remains a critical public health issue in Nigeria, with children and women being the most affected groups. In Minna LGA, Niger State, malnutrition is driven by factors such as poverty, inadequate healthcare, and poor dietary practices. Development journalism, which emphasizes community engagement and advocacy for socio-economic progress, has the potential to address these challenges by raising awareness and influencing policy decisions.

Development journalism goes beyond traditional reporting by highlighting solutions, amplifying marginalized voices, and fostering collaboration between stakeholders.
