Background of the Study
Healthcare is one of the most important public service sectors, especially in rural and underserved areas. Sabon Gari LGA in Kaduna State has faced challenges in providing adequate healthcare services to its citizens, primarily due to insufficient funding, inefficient fund management, and poor transparency in resource utilization. Public sector accounting practices are essential in managing healthcare funds, ensuring that financial resources are used efficiently to provide quality services. This study examines the impact of public sector accounting on healthcare delivery in Sabon Gari LGA, focusing on fund allocation, budgeting, and expenditure monitoring.
Statement of the Problem
Sabon Gari LGA has struggled with poor healthcare service delivery, which can be attributed to issues such as underfunding, financial mismanagement, and a lack of proper oversight in the allocation and utilization of healthcare funds. These problems are linked to gaps in public sector accounting practices that hinder transparency and accountability. This study aims to assess how the application of public sector accounting practices affects the delivery of healthcare services in Sabon Gari LGA.
Aim and Objectives of the Study
1. To evaluate the impact of public sector accounting on the efficient allocation and utilization of healthcare funds in Sabon Gari LGA.
2. To assess the role of accounting practices in ensuring transparency and accountability in the healthcare financing process.
3. To identify challenges in healthcare fund management and propose recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of accounting practices in improving healthcare delivery.

1. How does public sector accounting affect the allocation and utilization of healthcare funds in Sabon Gari LGA?

Research Hypotheses
1. H₀: Public sector accounting practices do not significantly influence the efficient allocation and utilization of healthcare funds in Sabon Gari LGA.
2. H₀: Accounting practices do not enhance transparency and accountability in healthcare fund management in Sabon Gari LGA.
3. H₀: There are no significant challenges in healthcare fund management that can be mitigated by improving public sector accounting practices.
Significance of the Study
The study will provide valuable insights into how public sector accounting practices can improve healthcare fund management in Sabon Gari LGA. It will offer recommendations for improving the allocation, utilization, and monitoring of healthcare funds to ensure better service delivery and improved health outcomes for the community.
Scope and Limitation of the Study
This study will focus on the management of healthcare funds in Sabon Gari LGA, Kaduna State. Limitations may include challenges in obtaining data related to healthcare budgets, limited access to detailed financial records, and resistance to disclosure of financial information by healthcare officials.
