Background of the Study

In an increasingly globalized and competitive job market, certification plays a key role in determining the career prospects of professionals. For accountants, obtaining certifications in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) can significantly enhance their employability, career advancement, and overall professional credibility. IFRS certification is recognized globally and can open doors to a broader range of career opportunities in multinational firms, financial institutions, and consultancy roles.

In Nigeria, the adoption of IFRS has created a demand for skilled accountants with specialized knowledge in financial reporting under these international standards. This study investigates the role of IFRS certification in enhancing career prospects for Nigerian accountants, focusing on its impact on employability, salary potential, and career progression.
