Background of the Study
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Maiduguri LGA face numerous challenges due to conflicts and natural disasters, leading to large-scale displacements. The management of finances in IDP camps is crucial for ensuring that resources are efficiently allocated and utilized. Financial accounting in these camps is often hindered by inadequate infrastructure, lack of trained personnel, and the transient nature of the population. Despite these challenges, proper financial accounting is vital for ensuring transparency, accountability, and the effective use of funds provided by humanitarian organizations and the government. This study aims to assess the financial accounting challenges in IDP camps within Maiduguri LGA, providing insights that could improve financial practices in these settings.
