Background of the Study
Financial accountability is a key determinant of the success of rural development projects, as it ensures that allocated funds are used for their intended purposes. In Akwanga Local Government Area (LGA), Nasarawa State, rural development projects play a vital role in improving the standard of living for residents. However, financial mismanagement, lack of transparency, and corruption often impede the successful implementation of these projects. This study evaluates the role of financial accountability in enhancing the efficiency and impact of rural development initiatives in Akwanga LGA.
Statement of the Problem
Despite significant investments in rural development, Akwanga LGA has struggled to achieve sustainable outcomes due to financial accountability issues. Misallocation of funds and poor monitoring mechanisms have hindered project success. This study investigates how financial accountability can improve the effectiveness of rural development projects in the region.
