Background of the Study
In oil-dependent communities in Nigeria, the management of royalties and tax revenues has often been marred by disputes and corruption, resulting in significant financial losses. Forensic accounting, with its focus on investigating financial records and uncovering discrepancies, has proven to be a powerful tool in resolving such disputes. In the context of oil communities, forensic accountants help ensure that royalty payments and taxes are accurately calculated and distributed. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of forensic accounting in managing royalties and tax disputes within Shira Local Government, Bauchi State, with a focus on oil revenues generated from local oil resources.
