Background of the Study

Auditing plays a vital role in monitoring revenue collection processes, particularly in local governments where the efficient collection of revenue is key to funding public services and infrastructure. In Birnin Kudu Local Government Area, revenue collection is central to the financial health of the government, yet there have been challenges related to mismanagement, underreporting, and inefficiencies. Auditors, particularly external auditors, have the responsibility to monitor and assess the adequacy of revenue collection systems, ensuring that all collected funds are accurately accounted for and appropriately allocated. Statement of the Problem
