Background of the Study
Financial transparency refers to the openness and clarity with which businesses and government entities report their financial activities and status. In the context of Kano Municipal LGA, the ability to demonstrate financial transparency can significantly affect the region's attractiveness to foreign investors. As foreign direct investment (FDI) is a critical driver of economic growth, understanding the relationship between financial transparency and FDI attraction is essential for local economic development. This study aims to explore how financial transparency influences the inflow of FDI into Kano Municipal LGA.

Statement of the Problem
Despite the economic potential of Kano Municipal LGA, there have been challenges in attracting FDI. This study seeks to address the gap in knowledge regarding the role of financial transparency in attracting foreign direct investment to the region.

The aim of this study is to assess the role of financial transparency in attracting foreign direct investment to Kano Municipal LGA. The specific objectives include:

  2. To evaluate the impact of financial transparency on FDI attraction.
  3. To propose strategies for enhancing financial transparency to improve the investment climate in the region.

  1. What is the level of financial transparency in businesses and government entities in Kano Municipal LGA?
  2. How does financial transparency influence the decision of foreign investors to invest in Kano Municipal LGA?
  3. What strategies can be implemented to improve financial transparency and attract more FDI?

Research Hypotheses

  1. Higher levels of financial transparency are positively correlated with an increase in foreign direct investment in Kano Municipal LGA.
  2. Financial transparency influences the investment decisions of foreign investors in Kano Municipal LGA.
  3. Improving financial transparency will lead to an increase in the volume of FDI flowing into the region.

Significance of the Study
This study will contribute to the understanding of how financial transparency affects FDI attraction, providing valuable insights for policymakers, business owners, and local government authorities to enhance investment prospects in Kano Municipal LGA.

Scope and Limitation of the Study
The study will focus on businesses and government entities within Kano Municipal LGA. Limitations may include challenges in obtaining confidential financial data from private and government organizations.
