Background of the Study

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are vital to economic development, serving as a source of employment and innovation. However, SMEs in Keffi Local Government Area face significant challenges in controlling costs, which often result in reduced profitability and financial instability. Effective cost control practices are essential to address these challenges and ensure the sustainability of SMEs.

Cost control involves monitoring, managing, and reducing expenses without compromising quality or operational efficiency. SMEs in Keffi often struggle with factors such as limited access to financial expertise, inadequate budgeting, and fluctuating operational costs. This study examines the challenges of cost control in SMEs in Keffi Local Government Area, highlighting strategies for improvement.

Research Hypotheses

  1. Cost control practices do not significantly influence the financial performance of SMEs in Keffi.

Significance of the Study

This study highlights the challenges of cost control in SMEs, providing actionable recommendations to enhance financial management and operational efficiency in Keffi Local Government Area.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

The study focuses on SMEs in Keffi Local Government Area, analyzing their cost control practices. It excludes large enterprises and SMEs outside the study area. Limitations include variability in business sizes and financial data availability.
