Background of the Study
Auditing plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy and transparency of revenue collection in local governments. Effective auditing practices in revenue collection ensure that local governments can identify and address discrepancies, minimize fraud, and enhance public trust. Chikun Local Government Area, like many others, relies heavily on its internal revenue generation to fund community development programs and public services. However, inefficiencies in revenue collection and leakage of funds have been persistent problems. This study examines the impact of auditing on improving revenue collection in Chikun Local Government Area.
