Background of the Study
The construction industry in Hong Local Government Area (LGA) plays a vital role in infrastructure development, including residential, commercial, and public buildings. One of the critical challenges in the industry is accurately estimating project costs. Construction cost estimation involves predicting the total costs required to complete a project, considering factors such as labor, materials, overhead, and unforeseen expenses (Kaka et al., 2014).
In Hong LGA, where construction activities are growing rapidly, the accuracy of cost estimations is crucial for successful project delivery. Inaccurate cost estimates often lead to cost overruns, project delays, and financial strain for contractors and developers. This study aims to investigate the cost estimation practices employed in construction projects in Hong LGA and assess their effectiveness in minimizing cost overruns and improving project outcomes.
Statement of the Problem
Construction projects in Hong LGA are frequently impacted by cost overruns and delays due to inaccurate cost estimation. The lack of proper cost estimation practices hinders the ability of contractors to allocate resources efficiently and manage project budgets. This study will explore the current cost estimation practices and their effectiveness in construction projects.
Aim and Objectives of the Study
The aim of this study is to examine the cost estimation practices used in construction projects in Hong LGA and assess their effectiveness.
The objectives are:
