Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Public protests have been a recurrent feature of Nigeria’s socio-political landscape, with citizens frequently taking to the streets to express dissatisfaction with various issues, including bad governance, corruption, and economic hardships. The EndBadGovernance protests, which gained momentum in 2024, are one of the most notable recent instances of widespread civil unrest in Nigeria (Channelstv, 2024; Aljazeera, 2024).
