Abstract: This study examines the impact of adult education on gender empowerment, focusing on how educational programs designed for adults contribute to gender equality and empowerment. The objectives were to assess the effectiveness of adult education in promoting gender equality, to evaluate the impact on participants' empowerment and social status, and to identify the challenges faced in implementing gender-focused adult education programs. A survey research design was employed to gather data from participants enrolled in gender empowerment programs, providing comprehensive insights into their experiences and perceptions. A sample size of 300 adult learners was selected for robust analysis. The purposive sampling technique was used to target individuals actively participating in gender-focused adult education initiatives. The case study was conducted in Benue, Nigeria, a region with diverse cultural and social dynamics. Findings indicated that adult education significantly enhanced gender empowerment by improving knowledge, skills, and confidence among participants, leading to more equitable social and economic opportunities. However, challenges such as cultural resistance and limited resources were identified. The study recommended increasing investment in gender-focused adult education programs and promoting community engagement to overcome cultural barriers and enhance program effectiveness.
